Best Minecraft Ancient City Seeds for Bedrock & Java (August 2024)

Minecraft Ancient Cities are rare, elusive structures that contain many hidden structures, plenty of Sculk, and the terrifying Warden. After exploring tons of seeds and uncovering numerous Ancient Cities, I've come up with this list of the best Ancient City seeds in both Java and Bedrock editions.

Best Minecraft Java Ancient City Seeds

If you're a spelunker with a wild side, you'll enjoy uncovering every one of these Ancient Cities! Whichever you decide to enter, make sure you're prepared to face the Warden on his own turf.

Dangerous Icy Mountain

Seed: 5099560041334728232

This Ancient City has small gaps in its floor that reveal parts of the lava lake beneath it. To get to it, players will need to climb down a cave at the top of the mountain near a similar pool of lava. After climbing into the cave, visit the coordinates I included below to find a small tunnel. It has Sculk-covered and will drop you at the edge of the Ancient City.

Dripping in Sculk

Seed: 4821074274352632952

The best Ancient Cities combine the structure with another unique structure or biome to create something devastatingly beautiful. This Ancient City has merged with a Dripstone Cave, turning half of the city into a spiky obstacle course. The other half of the city stays true to its roots by being covered in Sculk.

Danger Mountain

Seed: 6529700376162575276

With two Ancient Cities and a Pillager Outpost, this mountain is not for the faint of heart! Each city is pretty standard, but that only makes them easier to explore. I recommend starting with the outpost at the top of the mountain and making your way down. If you need a little extra help to get started, a Taiga Village nearby can provide you with more resources.

Lush Darkness

A nearby Lush Cave brings life to this Ancient City. Players can easily use bone meal on the moss and glow berries to help spread the greenery to the rest of the city. There is a second Ancient City in the area as well, albeit it does not have any lush elements. A Trails Ruins structure is above ground near the first Ancient City for those looking for a surface adventure.

Ravine City

Seed: 5485534373947696334

A Plains Village resides on both a Mountain Meadow and a Snowy Mountain in this seed. By exploring the snowy area of the mountain, a ravine leading deep into it can be discovered. Following the path on the right side of this ravine leads players to an Ancient City. If that's not enough, a second Ancient City can be discovered within a snowy mountain to the south.

Glowberry City

This Ancient City is a bit of a trip from Spawn, but it's well worth the time taken. It's at the center of a large Lush Cave biome. The Lush Cave's glowberries hang down from the ceiling, while parts of the floor have moss and clay. If you want to transform an Ancient City using the materials from a Lush Cave, this seed makes the process easy as pie.

Four Savanna Cities

What's better than one Ancient City near Spawn? Four Ancient Cities near Spawn! This Savanna contains four cities, one of them within a Dripstone Cave. You'll have no trouble digging into one even without the coordinates. There are two Savanna Villages above ground for those who want to gear up before heading into the earth.

Ancient Tunnels

This Ancient City is surrounded by tunnels and offshoots of caves. It's as if those living in it created multiple paths for resource gathering and maybe even escaping the Warden. It's impossible to tell how many made it out, but the many unfinished paths tell the stories of those who didn't. As you come down to the city from surface, make sure to mark your path to avoid their fate.

Revealed Ruins

While this seed has five Ancient Cities scattered around the mountains near Spawn, there is one that stands above the rest. This giant city is located in an open-air Dripstone cave. The edges of the city can be seen from the cave's entrance and a mineshaft lies in the upper half of the cavern. Players will even be able to find a Plains Village containing a Blacksmith near the cavern's entrance! While the other cities on the seed are great as they are, this is the one that you'll remember for ages to come.

Eight Ancient Cities

Seed: 7762290327547314529

This seed has the second-highest amount of Ancient Cities available in one area on our list! The giant Grove biome spawn is set in contains 8 Ancient Cities within a 1,000-block radius. There are a few more cities in the area, but they are over 1,000 blocks away.

Best Minecraft Bedrock Ancient City Seeds

For players on Bedrock/Windows 1.19 edition, you may need to turn on Wild Update Experiments in the Options menu to make sure an Ancient City is generated. Some of these seeds were generated with the Wild Update Experiments option activated.

Coastal City

Cliffs overlooking a Cold Ocean tower stand tall above this coastal Ancient City. On the way down, players will come across an oak mineshaft and a huge Lush Cave. The city itself has several streams of water as if the ocean were spilling into it. It also has a few lava falls that help brighten the city.

Four City Grove

The neighboring Grove and Taiga biomes contain four of this seed's Ancient Cities. The first of the cities is near a Lush Cave while the rest have pretty typical environments. When you enter this world, you'll be next to a cavern dropping down to deepslate. It contains a Lush Cave, the Deep Dark, and more. If you're up for a challenge, use this cave as your home base and dig long tunnels to the four Ancient Cities to get their riches without risking death in dark caverns.

Five City Badlands

When it comes to Ancient Cities, more is more! This Badlands contains five cities for Bedrock players to uncover. Each has its own treasures, traps, and unique environments to explore. The fourth is particularly pretty due to the large waterfalls flooding the areas around the city.

Twin Cherry Cities

This Minecraft world starts next to a Cherry Grove mountain hiding two Ancient Cities. The first city has combined with a Dripstone Cave while the second has several water and lava falls throughout it. If you explore the caves around these cities, you may be able to find one of the four Trial Chambers scattered around the area.

Lava Drip City

This Ancient City is mixed with both a Dripstone Cave and a small lake of lava. The result is a gorgeous but extra deadly city filled with tons of loot. The lava pool can be combined with some of the Dripstone to create an infinite source of lava. To make this seed sweeter, this city is hidden within the Meadow Mountain right next to Spawn.

Seven Cities

Seed: 7465781695736482164

If you're a Bedrock player wanting multiple cities near Spawn, look no further than this seed. It contains seven Ancient Cities in a 1,000-block radius of your starting point. There aren't a lot of elements differentiating these cities, but they're each packed with treasure and lots of Sculk.

Badlands Ancient Row

Seed: 6775795731452376896

The first four of these Badlands cities are lined up in a row, giving the seed the name "Badlands Ancient Row". The last city is off to the side alone in an area with a few mineshafts. You can visit each city while traveling across the land toward the ocean. Two of these cities have Dripstone deposits, while the rest stick to Sculk and the structures in the city themselves.

Lush Falls into Ancient City

The Ancient City in this seed is connected to a Lush Cave by two large waterfalls. The beautiful view makes this Ancient City a lot less scary than some of its darker counterparts. It also makes it easy to collect the special items found in the Lush Cave and the Ancient City in one short trip.

Dripstone City beneath Meadow Mountain

Located beneath a Meadow Mountain, this Ancient City has patches of Dripstone poking through its walls. The city itself is only about 200 blocks from Spawn, making it a quick trip for impatient players. Players looking for a little more adventure can also find a Woodland Mansion 1,000 blocks away.

Many Mountain Cities

If you're looking for lots of Ancient Cities, this seed has eight spread across the area within 2,000 blocks of Spawn. The first seven are within about 1,000 blocks, with the final one being on a more distant mountain range. The fourth of these cities is the most exciting because it is located right next to a lava lake. Take your time exploring all of them and uncovering what the Ancient City truly has to offer.
