Can Unowns be Shiny in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

I mean, they're cool and blue.

Hunting for Unowns in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a fun Pokédex sidequest you can do while you’re going through the main story. These Unown’s locations are fixed and there are exactly 28 of them in the game. Still, you might be wondering: can any of these Unown spawn as a shiny?

The answer is yes... eventually. The first 28 Unowns you need to capture are shiny locked. However, after this request, the Solaceon Ruins will be unlocked in Crimson Mirelands. You can catch shiny Unowns there.

Unowns aren’t the only Pokémon initially shiny locked in the game. For example, did you know that the starters Professor Laventon gives you at the beginning are shiny locked, too? You can catch them shiny in Distortions or outbreaks post-credits.

Fortunately, all other Pokémon in the overworld is fair game from the beginning. In fact, if you’re looking for shiny versions of the original Sinnoh starters (Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig), you can stumble upon one in the overworld. You just have to pay close attention. When shiny Pokémon spawn, they let out a small sparkle sound.
