How to use the Greeting Spell in Rune Factory 5

What’s possibly the oddest spell in the game.

Magic is mostly combat oriented Rune Factory 5. But after a certain quest, you’re given something called a Greeting Spell. It’s not used for battle and contains the vaguest description ever: “If you say hello, even people who don’t like you will say hi back. They'll be your special friends. You special awake friends.”

What does the Greeting Spell do?

As its name implies, the Greeting "Spell" lets you say hello, increasing friendship or love points by a very small amount (around three to five percent). The boost can only be done once per day per character. It can also be used on tamed monsters.

To use the Greeting Spell, equip it to either your X or Y shortcut, approach the person you want to greet, and press the assigned button. You’ll know you’ve greeted them successfully if you see a music note icon on top of their heads.

The Greeting Spell keeps its effect even if a character is currently hostile toward you (which prevents their meter from rising). Still, giving gifts and speaking to them daily are the best ways to grow close to your favorite people.
