Hero changes and tweaks in Overwatch 2

Role-Based Passives

A new implementation for Overwatch 2 is the new role-passed passive that each role now bears.

  • Tanks - Reduced knockback from all sources. Teammates who heal tanks and enemies who damage them will receive less Ultimate charge than they will from other heroes.
  • DPS - All characters in this role now sport faster base movement speed.
  • Support - All support characters will self-heal over time.

Hero tweaks

  • Reinhardt - Now has two Fire Strike charges instead of just one, and his Charge ability is easier to control and can be canceled.
  • Winston - Now has a mid-range charged shot as an alternate fire.
  • Zarya - Her bubbles are now on a shared cooldown. She has two bubbles that can be applied to her teammates as well as herself and they can stack on top of each other.
  • Junkrat - Enemies caught in his trap can move around slightly, but are still trapped for a duration.
  • Cassidy - Flashbang has been replaced with a magnetic damage-dealing grenade.
  • Echo - Her morph health will cap out at 300, meaning even when she morphs into a tank she will only ever have a maximum of 300 health.
  • Mei - Her primary fire no longer freezes enemies in place, but will instead only slow them down while dealing more damage than before.
  • Brigitte - Her shield bash will no longer stun enemies, but instead, deal a slight knockback and increased damage. She will also travel much further during this bash.

So there you have it, those are all of the character changes and reworks coming to Overwatch 2 in its first PvP Beta test. It will be exciting to see how these reworked characters fit in, and there will no doubt be more changes to come in the lead-up to launch. We will keep you updated on everything Overwatch 2 in the meantime.
