How to swap weapons in Diablo 4

Here's how to swap your weapons out in Diablo 4.

Switching weapons fast in Diablo 4 is essential as it allows me to change tactics on the fly. Unfortunately, Diablo 4 doesn't carry over the weapon-switching mechanic from Diablo 3, leaving many players wondering how they access their other arm. Not all is lost, though—there is a way. Here's how to swap weapons in Diablo 4.

You can swap weapons in Diablo 4 by using different skills. Weapons are tied to Skills in the game, meaning you need to use a Skill connected to a particular weapon type to use that specific weapon. For example, if you're playing Rogue and want to swap to a ranged weapon, you'll need to use a ranged Skill, and if you're a Barbarian and want to switch from slash to blunt damage, you need to connect certain weapons with the skill. Some Barbarian skills allow you to choose which weapon to use.

That said, you can't have more than one bow equipped if you're playing as Rogue. This means you can't have several weapons sets of the same type equipped that you can switch quickly, even as a max-level character. So, as a Barbarian, you can't have two blunt weapons to switch between.

How to swap weapons using skills in Diablo IV

To select Skills, go to the Abilities menu at the top of the inventory. Click Skill Assignment or press the S button on the keyboard. Select the Skills you want to use and place them in the active skills bar. This way, you can switch between the two types of weapons you have equipped. So for Rogue, you can quickly attack with ranged skills that need a bow or crossbow and melee that use knives and short swords.

To conclude, you can switch weapons in Diablo 4, but you can't have multiple weapon sets of the same type equipped to swap between them. There's no pressing a button and switching weapons here - only by using abilities. This is done to make you focus on skills and synergies between them and not on item combinations.

Being a Diablo veteran, I do not like this change. What if I have two great Legendary two-handed weapons and want to use them both because of different abilities and stats? I hope Blizzard will allow us to swap weapons independently of selected skills.
