Gamers should consider themselves lucky cause they're getting another opportunity to see Cloud, Aerith, and Sephiroth in HD. During the Summer Game Fest, Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis was announced. Based on the trailer shown, Sephiroth's backstory looks like it will be getting even more fleshed out.
What is Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis?
Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis looks to reimagine all the events surrounding Final Fantasy 7. Base characters like Cloud and Sephiroth will be in the game, but other characters will also be explored, like Glenn. In terms of gameplay, it looks like Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis will be using the traditional RPG style that was used in the original Final Fantasy 7.
The Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis trailer also displayed the tagline, "We still don't know Sephiroth." This likely hints that the villain will receive a more central role in this game. Sephiroth is one of the most famous villains in video game history, even being included in the Super Smash Bros Ultimate roster.
Which consoles are Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis going to be released on?
Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis will be a mobile game for Android and iOS users. This marks the third time that Final Fantasy 7 has seen representation on a portable console, the previous instances being Crisis Core (which was released on PSP) and the Switch port of the original Final Fantasy 7.
Personally, I think that Final Fantasy 7 coming to mobile is a great idea. Having recently played through the original Final Fantasy 7 port on the Switch, the age of that game clearly shows. The mobile release should add some quality-of-life changes that I would appreciate.
When Is Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis releasing?
There isn't an exact release date for Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis at the moment. Pre-registration is now open, though. A closed beta test is happening for the game that will last until June 28th, 2023. So I can speculate it'll be a winter 2023 launch because Square will want to get this released before Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
