In Apex Legends Season 15, players can create custom lobbies and private matches to organize scrims, tournaments, and community matches with friends. This new feature was added with the Spellbound Collection Event update. Earlier, custom matches were only available to organizations, professional players, and a few community experts, but now everyone can create and join custom lobbies. Here's what players need to know about private matches in Apex Legends.
How to get into a Private Match in Apex Legends
To create or join a custom match in Apex Legends, click on the match selection menu and select Private Match. You will be redirected to a new screen that has Create and Join Match options. To create a custom lobby, click on the Create Match option. Similarly, if you get a valid code for a private match, type it in the Join Match section shown in the image above. Remember, custom matches allow up to 60 players with five observers. Additionally, you need to have crossplay enabled, and no XP or battle pass progression is gained from playing in custom lobbies.
How many players are required to make a Private Match in Apex Legends?
To start a private battle royale match, you must have at least 30 players in the lobby. For a custom arena match, there must be at least six players in the lobby. After creating a match, you will be redirected to the lobby screen shown above, with respective team slots, settings, and match summary.
To change the map and game rules, select the Settings option. There are four battle royale maps available to choose from including World's Edge, Storm Point, Olympus, and Broken Moon. Likewise, there are five Arena maps which include Habitat 4, Drop Off, Phase Runner, Overflow, and Encore. Similarly, you can choose from different game options like enabling all chat, renaming team, self-assigning teams, aim assist override, anonymous mode, and game mode variant.
How to invite players to a custom match in Apex Legends
To invite friends, tap and reveal the code on the top right-hand side corner. Copy this code and send it to your friends to invite them. You can click and drag on a friend's name in the lobby screen to assign them to specific teams in a private match. Once everything is ready, click on the Start Match button to launch the private game in Apex Legends.
