Why the Jump Towers in Labs and Solar Array were removed from Olympus in Apex Legends

No more quick entries or escapes.

Olympus went through a lot of quality-of-life changes for its Season 12: Defiance map update, Sabotaged Olympus. As part of that, many ziplines and other mobility-helpful objects and geometry were added to the Apex Legends map. So that said, why were two of the most used Jump Towers on the whole map removed? That’s right, the Hammond Labs Jump Tower and the Solar Array Jump Tower were both taken out of the latest version of the Olympus map. Let’s look at why.

First and foremost, this was used to prevent such fast travel between two high-traffic areas. These Jump Towers in the past had cause many purposeful and accidental third-parties in the past, and the developers wanted to crack down on that.

For Solar Array, another reason was that the Point of Interest (POI) was actually moved. The shifted Grounds feature of the Sabotaged Olympus update moved three major POIs, Solar Array being one of them. The Jump Tower would’ve no longer been in its optimized position anyway.

As for the Labs Jump Tower, with the introduction of the new POI, Terminal, there is another way to rotate in and out of the side of Hammond Labs now. Even without the Jump Tower, teams can take their entrance or leave through the side of the Phase Runner.
