How to make Cementing Paste in ARK Survival Ascended

Romans used eggs... we tame giant toads to eat insects!

Cementing Paste is a vital crafting component in Ark Survival Evolved, but it has long eluded me since it's not a resource and, therefore, commonly found in nature. In this guide, I will show you how to easily get it.

How to get Cementing Paste in ARK Survival Ascended

There are several ways of obtaining the Cementing Paste in ARK Survival Ascended:

  • Taming Beelzebufo: this curious creature can devour insects like Titanomyrma or a Meganeura, creating the Cementing Paste in the process. I found this method to be the easiest by far.
  • Taming the Achatina: this giant snail is more difficult to tame than Beelzebufo. It produces an Achatine Paste, which you can then use as a substitute for the Cementing Paste.
  • Raiding Giant Beaver Dams: just like in Ark Survival Evolved, Giant Beaver Dams are an ample source of Cementing Paste. You will have to fight the creatures that defend it, so be well-prepared.

Looting Giant Beaver Dams is my least favorite of all three options since you'd normally need the Cementing Paste to build the very weapons you'd need for raiding Giant Beaver Dams. Moreover, I have encountered a situation where the inventories of the Dams don't refresh over time. According to one of my colleagues, you can work around this bug if you empty out the Dam's inventory completely.

How to craft Cementing Paste

If you're finding the methods above too difficult, you can always craft the Cementing Paste in Ark Survival Ascended by combining certain ingredients. You will first need to obtain Mortar and Pestle Engrams and craft the item to proceed. You need the following:

  • 8x Stone
  • 4x of either Keratin, Chitin, or Shell Fragments

Simply put the required resources into the Mortar, click Craft, and you will produce a single unit of Cementing Paste. I find this method to sometimes be more efficient than animal taming activities, especially if I need small amounts of Paste quickly.

What is Cementing Paste used for in ARK Survival Ascended?

Cementing Paste is used for building some of the more advanced Engram designs in Ark Survival Ascended, like Auto-turrets and Explosives, but also some of the simpler designs require it, like Musket and Platform Saddles. Since this commodity is so useful, it also has significant value as a trading token among tribes in the game.
