On a typical day in Terra, Doctors spend hours and multiple wasted Sanity refunds to complete an important resource stage at three stars to unlock the Auto Deploy function. This allows you to let the same stage play out over and over again until you've farmed your share of coveted materials.
And on a not-so-typical day in Terra, Doctors might find that Auto Deploying a stage would result in an error, which can mean failing the stage or only completing it at two stars or less.
Auto Deploy errors are not uncommon—here are some reasons why they occur and how you can fix them.
Operator DP Cost Increase
The DP Cost for an Operator increases as you promote them to E1 and E2. For example, Exusiai costs 12 DP at non-Elite levels but promoting her to E1 will increase her DP Cost to 14. This Cost is retroactively applied to all stages you have completed with the Operator.
So if you deployed Exusiai when you had exactly 12 DP, there would no longer be enough DP to deploy her at E1, which could cause an error to occur.
Buffs Not Applied on Time
Some buffs require careful timing and are sometimes RNG-dependent. If your Aak fails to apply a buff, your DPS Operator might not deal enough damage to defeat the enemy. Or if you use Surtr's Skill 3 and don't account for the changes in the HP loss ratio from leveling her up, your Auto Deploy could fail.
Inconsistent Timing
Some stages heavily rely on timing, which means that if an Operator can't kill an enemy at an exact point, the rest of the stage could crumble. For example, DP-on-Kill Vanguards like Vigna and Reed generate 1 DP per kill, but if they don't defeat enemies fast enough, the change in the DP generation timing could cause delays, resulting in errors.
Likewise, if your Fast-Redeploy Operator dies prematurely, the enemy could end up killing a different Operator instead.
How to Fix The Error
The only way to fix the Auto Deploy error is to redo the stage again. Keep in mind that you still need to clear it at three stars and can't use a Support Unit. After completing the stage, you'll be asked to update your Auto Deploy Squad, which should prompt the error message to disappear.
