With 2021 coming to a close, studios are preparing for an incredible year for games. 2022 is already shaping up to be a phenomenal year for games. Developers are pushing the boundaries of what games can do thanks to the PlayStation 5's advanced hardware, each creating their vision of what a game ought to be in 2022.
While we don't know every game Sony has scheduled, we've got a good picture of some must-have titles in 2022. Here are ten PS5 games you won't want to miss next year in 2022:
Stray
BlueTwelve Studio's Stray puts players in the shoes of a lost cat on a mission to find his way home. The third-person adventure game promises an enticing mechanical world for users to explore as their furry friend does his best to uncover the mysteries of a cybernetic and futuristic city to reunite with family. Stray launches in early 2022.
A Plague Take: Requiem
The sequel to 2019's A Plague Tale: Innocence, A Plague Tale: Requiem continues the journey of Amicia and Hugo. Asobo Studio's sequel aims to be more ambitious than its predecessor, expanding upon the narrative with a grounded approach to storytelling, along with an impressive score and visuals. A Plague Tale: Requiem will launch sometime in 2022.
Gran Turismo 7
Polyphony Digital's latest driving sim, Gran Turismo 7, is just around the corner. Here, players can tune, race, tweak and improve over 420 unique vehicles through a wide array of locales. With over 90 tracks, dynamic weather, and classic courses for series fans new and old to enjoy, Gran Turismo 7 promises to be to most impressive entry in the franchise so far when it launches on Mar. 4, 2022.
GhostWire Tokyo
Few games are as visually impressive as GhostWire: Tokyo. Tango Gameworks' unique action-adventure title places players in a version of Tokyo marred by a supernatural presence. The citizens of Tokyo are gone, and the only way to solve the mystery of their vanishing is by embracing otherworldly abilities to fight the occultists that now occupy the derelict city. This title has no release date yet, but Bethesda and Tango Gameworks plan for a 2022 release.
Forspoken
Ever wish you could visit another world? Frey, a girl from New York City, just got that wish granted in Square Enix's Forspoken. After being teleported to the mystical land of Athia, Frey must master magical abilities and defeat herculean beasts to navigate this mysterious world and find a way home. Forspoken launches on May 24, 2022.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Who do you call when Superman and the Justice League go bad? The Suicide Squad is still asking themselves that question. In Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Amanda Waller's team of disposable baddies find themselves pitted against the world's most powerful superheroes. Players can take control of Harley Quinn, King Shark, Deadshot, or Captain Boomerang in this superhero epic. Players can even invite a few friends for a four-player online co-op experience. There's no date announced for this game, but players can expect to grab this game on PS5 sometime in 2022.
Final Fantasy XVI
Have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV? Well, the director of that beloved MMO, Naoki Yoshida, is producing the next numbered entry in Square Enix's most popular franchise. The upcoming action RPG promises to tell an enthralling story of revenge and war with a smooth real-time combat system to accent the narrative. Players can expect to venture into Final Fantasy XVI's world, Valisthea, when this title launches at some point in 2022.
Elden Ring
FromSoftware's latest title, Elden Ring, gives players the familiar combat of the Soulslike franchise and melds it with an open-world design along with a new story written by George R. R. Martin. The Lands Between, a world ruled by Queen Marika and her demigod offspring. Each child holds a fragment of the Elden Ring, known as a Great Rune. The Tarnished must win these pieces of the Elden Ring and claim them all if they are to become an Elden Lord. The battles will be unforgiving and harrowing, but those brave enough to take on The Lands Between can do so on Feb. 25, 2022.
Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Zero Dawn told the fascinating tale of a world over a millennium ahead of our own, where people lived in tribes, and living machines ruled the land. Players control Aloy in this action RPG as she searches to find what caused the collapse of the human world while preventing the forces that aim to end the world from striking again. In this highly anticipated sequel, Aloy ventures to the West Coast as she fights to keep the world and its people safe. Continue the journey of this dystopian future epic when Horizon Forbidden West launches on Feb. 18, 2022.
God of War Ragnarök
Ragnarök has come to Midgard. Kratos and Atreus continue their journey in the mysterious Norse lands, searching for a way to stop Ragnarök: the end of days. The father and son will venture throughout the Nine Realms of their journey to find Tyr, the Norse God of War, as they search for a way to combat Asgard's mounting forces. New enemies like the God of Thunder, Thor promise to make this journey dangerous and unforgettable when Santa Monica's God of War: Ragnarök launches in 2022.
