Call of Duty: Warzone 2 release date, platforms, & more!

Call of Duty: Warzone is getting an update, of sorts. Warzone 2.0 was announced on June 8, 2022, and will be a wholly new experience. The original Warzone will continue on as a "separate experience," so fans of the original can continue playing it. But, we're interested in Warzone 2! Here's what we know thus far.

Everything we know about Call of Duty: Warzone 2

CoD: Warzone 2 is being developed by Infinity Ward with support from Raven Software. Along with Modern Warfare 2 (2022), it utilizes a new engine that will be used across all Call of Duty titles moving forward. In addition to the new engine, Warzone 2 will also implement the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat software.

What is the release date for Call of Duty: Warzone 2?

CoD: Warzone 2 will release later in 2022. In the press release for Modern Warfare 2, Activision stated that Modern Warfare 2 is set to release on October 28, 2022, and that Warzone 2 will be released shortly thereafter.

What platforms will CoD: Warzone 2 be on?

Part of Call of Duty's appeal is its wide availability. Warzone 2 will be available on the following platforms:

• PlayStation 4
• PlayStation 5
• Xbox One
• Xbox Series X|S
• PC
• Mobile

Will CoD: Warzone 2 be free-to-play?

There is currently no information if Warzone 2 will be free-to-play like Warzone 1, but 2.0 will likely follow the lines of its brethren and become a free-to-play battle royale.

We also suspect that it will use a paid battle pass system, cosmetics, and everything else that Warzone had, which is entirely optional if you just want to enjoy the battle royale experience.

Will Warzone 2 require Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus to play?

We expect nothing to change with the release of Warzone 2.0 and that everyone will be allowed to download and play it, even though you're not subscribed to Xbox Live to PlayStation Plus.

Though there is no official information on this matter, you will most likely not need an online membership of any kind to play the Warzone 2.

That's all the official information that has been released thus far. It's exciting that Warzone will finally be coming to mobile in a unified experience.
