Dead Space Remake – All 7 Weapons, Ranked (Worst to Best)

Oh my! So many wonderful toys to play with!

The Dead Space Remake doesn't deviate from what made the original so great. It takes the original recipe and adds in a few variations that only enhance the experience. This holds true for the weapons themselves. Unfortunately, not all weapons are created equal. Here's the worst to the best.

The best weapons, in order, in Dead Space Remake

8. Flamethrower

The Flamethrower, despite being incredibly flashy, is downright useless. The bursts of flame don't do anything to stop or slow down necromorphs and won't actually kill any unless they're already on the verge of death. This is a weapon that should go right into storage as soon as you get it.

7. Force Gun

The Force Gun is an extremely situational weapon. It acts like a shotgun powered by Kinesis. It can either knock enemies back or shoot a gravity well that pulls things toward it. Another situational weapon, but it does pair well with the Ripper. Pull all the enemies into a nice tight area and then tear into them with a spinning blade of death.

6. Contact Beam

The Contact Beam has potential, but it's slow, and ammo for it is pricey. This weapon is one to carry around and use only in dire need. The primary use fires a continual beam cannon, and the secondary use is an enormously powerful laser. This weapon is great for large packs or the big brutes.

5. Line Gun

The Line Gun is like a bigger version of the Plasma Cutter. It also fires in the superior horizontal line, but on a much larger scale. Its secondary fire is a laser trap, but with how often necromorphs like to spring from walls and ceilings, setting traps isn't exactly something that Isaac has time for.

4. Ripper

The Ripper is a grisly and brutally efficient weapon in the right hands. The primary fire is akin to revving up a chainsaw and allows Isaac to make extremely short work of anything immediately in front of him with only a single blade. The secondary fire isn't as ammo efficient, but the results are no less spectacular as a single saw blade is propelled at an extreme speed. It's more often than not able to literally take the legs, arms, or head off whatever is ahead of Isaac.

3. Pulse Rifle

The Pulse Rifle is the only actual weapon in Dead Space that was designed to be an actual weapon. The rest are simply mining tools that our favorite engineer has cleverly repurposed. The primary fire launches a hail of bullets, and the secondary fire plops out proximity mines. Secondary fire doesn't see much use, whereas the primary fire cleans up, especially after being upgraded to have both a high capacity and damage output.

2. Foam Finger

Originally a gag weapon in Dead Space 2, developer Motive has brought it over to the Dead Space Remake. To acquire it, players must beat the game on the hardest difficulty, which doesn't allow for any dying. The reward is a giant foam finger powered by Isaac shouting "BANG" and "PEW PEW" as the imaginary bullets one-shot anything in their way.

1. Plasma Cutter

Ah, the Plasma Cutter. The mold was broken when this "gun" was crafted. It's the first weapon that Isaac gets and the one that will carry him to the end. It's simple in use, with being able to switch between a vertical and horizontal pattern, thus making it easy to line up shots on legs, arms, heads, and tentacles. Through various weapon upgrades, it can become extremely powerful. Coupled with how good it feels to shoot, there's a reason why this weapon is a horror icon.
