How to remove gems in Diablo 2: Resurrected?

Here's how to remove gems from sockets in Diablo 2 Resurrected.

To remove gems from sockets in Diablo 2 Resurrected, you will need to use the Horadric Cube. The Horadric Cube is a unique item that you will get much later in the game around Act two.

During Act Two, you will be tasked with a quest to take you to the Halls of the Dead. Inside the bottom floor of the Halls of the Dead is where you will find this strange cube.

After you finish the quest involving the Halls of the Dead, you will be able to use the Horadric Cube for the purpose of transmog and removing gems from sockets on gear. To remove a socketed gem, you will need the following items placed inside the Horadic Cube.

  • Hel Rune
  • Town Portal Scroll
  • The item with the gem you want to go away.

When you have met all three conditions, slap the transmute key, and you will combine all three items into a brand new copy of the original item, but this time with no gem inside of it.

Before you use this method, an important thing to note is that this will destroy both the Hel Rune and the gem inside the item. There are no ways to recover gems in Diablo 2 Resurrected, so once you use them, they are gone.

Because of this, we recommend only removing gems from powerful gear, as in most cases, it will not be worth using one Hel Rune to remove a gem from a low-level piece of gear.
