While there are many great things to be said about the classic retro JRPG feel of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, the way saving the game works isn’t one of them. Unfortunately, you can’t simply save whenever you want to and only have 20 save slots to play with.

There are two ways to save in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes:

  • Adventuring save points: You’ll see these relatively frequently. They are floating mechanisms with a glowing green disc above them (see the image above). You’ll usually find them when you enter a quest area, on new maps within dungeons, and just before bosses.
  • Taverns: Any time you go to a tavern (either your own or in a town or village) you can speak to the tavern owner (or Cassandra in your tavern) and save the game there.

It's also easy to miss in the controls list, but if you ever want to reload a different save game or quit the game, use the 'Open System Menu' function to access the Load and Settings menu.
