Elden Ring is a massive and challenging game. With over 80 bosses, mini-bosses, and optional bosses, it can be extremely challenging to figure out which ones are actually required to beat the game. The only bosses that are required are the Elden Ring Shardbearers and a few others along the way that are on the path to those bosses. The bosses listed below (in no particular order to avoid spoilers) are the ones players will need to seek out to complete the game's main story.
- Maliketh, the Black Blade
- Godrick the Grafted
- Red Wolf of Radagon
- Fire Giant
- Elden Beast
- Godfrey, the First Elden Lord (fought two different times)
- Renalla, Queen of the Full Moon
- Morgott, the Omen King
- Margit, the Fell Omen
- Hoarah Loux, Warrior
- Radagon of the Golden Order
Should you fight optional bosses?
It is a great idea to explore and discover the world of Elden Ring, which includes fighting non-required bosses. Some of the best loot, storylines, and experiences come from fighting optional mini-bosses in hard-to-find dungeons.
One of the most impactful non-required bosses is Starscourge Radahn. Not only will he provide players with a Rune upon defeat, but he is also one of the most challenging and interesting bosses that players can fight in Elden Ring. His defeat also opens up new areas of the map for players to explore.
