Playing Elden Ring on Steam Deck sounds like fun unless you decide to take a break. Players are having a problem with the game crashing after being idle for some time; apparently, there's an error that prevents you from leaving the game unattended.

Everyone knows Elden Ring is a hard game that requires commitment, but it's ridiculous to have to play it without taking a break. After multiple players complained, developers detected the reason why the game breaks occasionally.

Apparently, leaving your Steam Deck inactive for more than five minutes may stop the game from accepting inputs. There's no quick fix for this solution other than playing Elden Ring non-stop. I guess there are worse things to do than play the Elden Ring for hours (until FromSoftware or Valve find a proper solution). If that's too extreme for you, you could play the game on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox.

Does Elden Ring work well on Steam Deck?

Valve has implemented a fix so the game has a stable frame rate. That means you can play Elden Ring without stuttering, which was an issue on other game platforms. Of course, you can't compare high-end platforms with handheld consoles, so selecting medium settings and 30 fps will do the trick.

For those now worried about playing Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree on Steam Deck, it is a really big DLC, as you'll need to spend at least 15 hours to complete it (that's without turning every stone to find items and solving all side quests). On second thought, maybe taking a five-minute break from playing the game on Steam Deck is not something that you'll do often.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will test your skills, but first, you must prepare for new adventures. Here's everything you need to do before you start playing Elden Ring DLC, here on Pro Game Guides.
