In Elden Ring, players will come across several objects that can be used to amplify and improve armaments. Smithing Stones essentially allow players to upgrade their weapons, but these are quite rare and found all across the map. You will find various versions of Smithing Stones in Elden Ring, with the higher variants used for upgrading weapons beyond +3 status.
Smithing Stone 1 is the most common variant of these upgrade items that players will find in-game. It can be acquired after eliminating enemies and in specific areas. The best place to farm Smithing Stones 1 during the early phases of the game is Limgrave Tunnels. It is located south of Agheel Lake North Site Of Grace.

After going inside the tunnel, players will come across several miner-like creatures that are resistant to blade damage. While they have resistant skin, these enemies are not agile, and players can effectively collect them, even without engaging the enemies. These creatures harvest Smithing Stones 1 inside the Limgrave Tunnel, and it's ideal to return to this spot to farm these upgrade items.
Sometimes these creatures drop Smithing Stones 1 as loot. Using a Broadsword, Uchigatana, or Longsword is not the best option to defeat these enemies. Instead, players can use the Fire Torch, Flail, or even incantations and sorcery attacks to take down these opponents swiftly.Â
