How to avoid getting petrified in FF7 Rebirth

It's not hard as long as you're prepared.

Petrify is probably the worst status ailment you can get in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (yes, even worse than turning into a Frog). Whether you’re up against the Gi or the Sahagin Warrior for a combat intel mission, here’s how you can avoid getting petrified.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: How to avoid Petrify

As harsh as petrify can be, there are multiple ways to avoid the status ailment in FF7 Rebirth. Here are the best ways:

Equip Jeweled Rings

Jeweled Ring is a type of accessory that can nullify the effects of Petrify. It’s craftable in the Transmuter.

If you don’t have access to Jeweled Ring’s recipe, do one of two things: scan more Lifesprings (and dig up more transmuter chips in artifact locations Chadley lets you) or level up your craftsmanship level.

Use Cleansing Materia

The amazing fact about petrification is that it doesn’t happen immediately. The first time you’re hit, a stone icon will appear beside your name. It’ll start a timer. Once the icon is fully filled up, that’s the only time your character gets petrified.

Thus, once a character is hit, have someone cast Esuna to get rid of it. Your Cleansing materia needs to be level 2 to do this, but you can just link it with a Level Boost to immediately give it an additional star. This is materia you can earn from doing World Intel missions for Chadley.

Throw a Gold Needle

If you don’t want to bother with a Cleansing materia, just purchase Gold Needles from an item shop. Once you’re hit by the Petrify-inducing attack, throw a Gold Needle at the affected character to cure them off Petrify.
