FFXIV players are finally getting the Kappa glamour set they’ve been begging for

While FFXIV's Dawntrail expansion doesn't set sail until late June (if you've pre-ordered), players have been staying plenty busy in-game with event content. In fact, another event set to drop on May 15 is none other than the annual Make It Rain Campaign, and this year it comes with one of the best surprises yet.

Those who head to the Gold Saucer and complete the latest Make It Rain Campaign questline will be rewarded with the long-awaited Kappa suit glamour set. Thanks to the wonders of data mining, much of the community knew this was coming, but didn't know when exactly.

While technically called the 'Imp Suit', most players know it as a Kappa thanks to both Final Fantasy lore and traditional Japanese folklore. Now it's set to join the ranks of other eccentric outfits in the game such as the Swine Suit and Toad Suit and of course the unforgettable Namazu Mask. We fully expect to see Kappas flooding the streets of Limsa and every other popular city soon enough.

As it turns out, it wasn't just the players pleading for the Kappa suit to become a reality. The father of Final Fantasy himself, Hironobu Sakaguchi, made a surprise appearance on-stage at Tokyo FanFest earlier this year dressed head-to-toe in a hilariously accurate Kappa suit. Dressed very convincingly, he implored FFXIV's director Yoshi-P to hurry along with bringing the glamour set to the game. Thankfully he won't have to wait much longer.

This year's Make It Rain Campaign lasts for about two weeks until May 31, so don't wait too long to drop by the Gold Saucer for some extra winnings and special rewards that include one of the most absurdly adorable glamour sets in the game (seen above).

The Make It Rain Campaign is an annual event in Final Fantasy XIV that takes place at the Gold Saucer, and boosts all MGP rewards earned there by 50% for the duration of the event. It's a fantastic opportunity to bulk up your character's MGP wallet, especially right before the debut of Dawntrail.

Remember that Free Companies can also take advantage by activating daily MGP boosts of their own to stack on top of it.

While the Make It Rain Campaign traditionally rolls through during the Summer season, it's making a slightly earlier appearance this year, most likely due to Dawntrail releasing in late June, and the Dragon Quest collab event coming next month as well.

If you want to hit up this year's event, simply head to Ul'dah - Steps of Nald and speak to Quevain at (X:9.4, Y:9.2) to pick up the "Of Impish Importance" quest. Full details are available via the FFXIV Lodestone website here.
