Fire Emblem Engage – Best Builds for Alear

Surprisingly, Divine Dragons aren't too powerful.

In Fire Emblem Engage, characters can change into any class they want. This is good news for Alear, who actually wants to get out of Divine Dragon at some point during a playthrough. Alear can fail to reach kill thresholds, so it's prudent to give him or her a class that gives more kill power or doubles down on Alear's high avoid.

What should Alear reclass into in Fire Emblem Engage?

The first and easiest direction to take Alear would be to make him or her a dodgy Swordmaster. Since Alear already starts the game with Marth, they can inherit skills like Avoid +10 and increased Sword Avoid. With this build, players will want to place Alear on tiles with terrain effects to make him or her practically untouchable.

Another direction that will help Alear pick up kills would be switching to Paladin. This class will give Alear a total 50% Strength growth rate, and with Alear's high speed, they will pick up kills easily with a strong Sword. Paladin gives Alear extra movement while still benefiting from thickets and other terrain effects. For the strongest version of this Alear, it's best to give him or her Strength +5 from Roy's Emblem Ring.

Finally, Alear can work well as a Wyvern Knight. This will make Alear less dodgy since Wyvern's can't take advantage of Avoid tiles. The tradeoff is that Alear will be much stronger, bumping up to a 55% Strength growth rate. On top of that, being able to fly is always nice. Wyvern Alear can accomplish niche objectives such as clearing out the opposing Wyverns over the sea in Chapter 13 or flying over the ledge to talk to Jade immediately in Chapter 9.
