Fortnite's crossover chaos is continuing in Chapter 5 Season 3 with Fallout and Mad Max making their way to the brightly-colored battle royale world. Epic Games has already warned players that this is going to be a bigger update to download than usual. So just how big? I've gone ahead and checked all of the download sizes for your convenience.
How big is the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 update?
- PlayStation 5: 45 GB
- PC: 47 GB
- Xbox: 36.77 GB
The numbers above come courtesy of yours truly, and some leakers on X (formerly known as Twitter) who have been able to check the file sizes on various platforms. For reference, this is almost twice the size of previous Fortnite updates, such as Chapter 5 Season 1 and Chapter 5 Season 2
An increased file size suggests more changes coming to the game than usual. Given that we know of the crossover already, I'd predict that we'll see a desert-like or post-apocalyptic biome on the map, some monster trucks and other cool vehicles as previously hinted at, and a number of new weapons to fit in with the crossovers.
We'll also no doubt see a whole host of new cosmetics to fill out the Battle Pass, but also celebrate Fallout and Mad Max making it into the Fortnite world. Fallout's Power Armor has already been confirmed to be part of the Battle Pass and is not an Item Shop exclusive.
Fortnite leakers have also revealed that the new season will also apparently have a 'swinging' mechanic and 'GYMs.' Are we talking Pokemon-style gyms here? Will there be certain bosses in each GYM that'll reward you with a mythic item, similar to Hades and Zeus from Chapter 5 Season 2? We'll soon find out.
