A highly-requested weapon is coming to Fortnite soon, according to leaks

Seek & Destroy.

Long-range kills look set to be returning to Fortnite thanks to the upcoming introduction of a Heavy Impact Sniper Rifle. As expected, players have differing opinions on the matter, as a dominant one-shot-kill weapon can impact the current meta significantly. For better or worse, sniping is back in fashion and killing it!

While we still don't know much about the new sniper rifle, it's safe to say that having that strong of a weapon in Fortnite could completely change up the current meta. The Heavy Impact Sniper Rifle sounds very similar to the Heavy Sniper Rifle, which was very popular once. According to Shiina Fortnite Leaker, this new weapon is in the works for a later date, maybe Chapter 5, Season 4.

If the weapon is similar to in stats to the Heavy Sniper Rifle, it would heavily reward players who consistently land accurate headshots. It could also potentially be effective in damaging structures. This could be useful for breaking down enemy builds, creating openings, or pressuring opponents hiding behind cover.

Having said that, a bunch of snipers looking for targets is not how many Fortnite fans would describe a fun match. However, this may be done to force players to use vehicles while on the move and build structures to protect themselves. Remember that the current season has introduced vehicle add-ons that bring a new dimension to (off)- road warfare.

I found new vehicle combat with mounted guns entertaining, so I look forward to hunting down snipers. Despite those claiming this could ruin close-quarters combat in the game, it's worth keeping in mind that sniping isn't the easiest thing in the world, and it may leave you vulnerable, as there's always a chance for someone to kill you while you're busy staring down your sights.
