You can still track the storm circle on your map like always in Fortnite Chapter 5, but you may have noticed a few more circles popping up on your map. So here's what those yellow circles mean.
What the yellow map circles mean in Fortnite
As you jump into Fortnite Chapter 5, you may wonder what those yellow circles mean on your map. These circles are slightly different from the storm circle and will actually move all around the map, getting closer or further away from you. That is because these circles are actually indicating the location of a player holding a Medallion.
The Society Medallions are game-changing tokens to claim in your match, allowing you to continuously build up shield as long as you have it on you. However, it also has one negative effect to balance it, and that is your location will be exposed. Your location is exposed as the yellow circle on other player's maps. This is only a radius and not your pinpointed location, but the more Medallions you pick up, the smaller that radius will become.

How to hide your location in Fortnite Chapter 5
If you don't want to risk exposing your location to other players, you must give up that precious Medallion. Once you drop it, your location will be hidden again. You'll need to open your full inventory to find the Medallion stored there and drop it. As soon as you drop it, you will be prompted at the bottom of your screen that your location is now hidden, and you won't have to worry about others seeing where you are.
The Medallions are a great asset to you, but they come with side affects. If someone else is carrying one, you can use those yellow radius circles to your advantage and track them down.
