Will there be a sequel to God of War Ragnarök?

The God of War series first launched in 2005, and fans have seen Kratos journey through Greek mythology and now Norse mythology in the soft reboot/continuation of his story. With the 2018 God of War and 2022 God of War Ragnarök being some of the most highly-praised titles on PlayStation, fans may be wondering if there will be a sequel to God of War Ragnarök.

Is God of War Ragnarök the last game in the series?

The answer to this is more complex than yes or no. The God of War series itself may see another entry, but this will likely not be a direct sequel to God of War Ragnarök in the sense of being set within Norse mythology. In a YouTube interview with Kaptain Kuba, God of War Ragnarök director Cory Balrog confirms that another entry in the Norse saga for Kratos was unlikely. This is due to the amount of time spent on God of War and God of War Ragnarök, as well as a third entry not fitting the story.

However, we may see a new God of War in a different mythological setting, similar to how the 2018 God of War changed from Greek to Norse mythology. There are numerous mythologies the God of War team could explore, but the most popular seems to be Egyptian mythology, according to a poll on Reddit.

Celtic, Japanese, Chinese, Slavic, Hindu, and other possibilities. While Santa Monica Studios has not claimed whether the God of War series will continue after God of War Ragnarök, the series' success would certainly lead to another entry, and fans would likely be delighted to explore a new mythology.
