Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V is a game that continues to soar even eight years after its initial release. It is currently available on two generations of console, with a third edition coming soon for the latest generation line-up. So far it hasn't had cross-play, but will it in 2022?
The answer to this is unfortunately no. The game remains out of the cross-platform loop, and shows no signs of adopting the ability anytime soon, if at all.
The third launch of the game for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 is slated for March this year, and the good news is that players will be able to play with others from eighth generation consoles. For instance, PS4 and PS5 players will not have to worry about being put in generation-specific lobbies.

For those that may play on PlayStation and have friends who play on Xbox, it will not be possible to hop into the same session together, and the likelihood is that this won't change.
With the two consoles having different architecture and different coding, it would be a massive feat to integrate the systems so that they are cross-platform compatible.
Rockstar recently revealed that another new Grand Theft Auto title is officially in the works as well. There's no doubt the team will be focused on creating the newest installment, as well as maintaining the ones already in the series that are constantly being updated.
