Like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail includes tests to see if you are ready to raise the level of enemies you find strolling about in the galaxy. These are collectively called the Trial of Equilibrium, and they will come in multiple parts as you raise your Trailblaze Level.
These tests pushed our teams to the limit each time we challenged them. They also unlocked systems needed to progress further in the game, such as Crimson Calyxes and Stagnant Shadows, so completing them was definitely worth the effort. Here is a guide to all of the Equilibrium Trials in Honkai: Star Rail.
Best team comps for all Trials of Equilibrium in Honkai Star Rail
Equilibrium Trials unlock at Trailblaze Levels 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 65. The quests will launch automatically when you reach these stages. You will not be able to raise your Trailblaze Level further until you've beaten each Equilibrium Trial. If you find yourself struggling at any point, here's your guide to the best Trials of Equilibrium teams to bring in Honkai: Star Rail.
Trial of Equilibrium Part 1
The first Equilibrium Trial unlocks about the same time you explore the Underworld of Jarilo-VI. You'll find it in the lower level of the Robot Settlement. You'll need to pass this trial to raise your Trailblaze level above 20 and unlock Crimson Calyxes. As this is the first challenge in the game, we recommended a fully free character team:
- Natasha, Asta, Serval, Dan Heng
Make no mistake: while this is the first trial, it won't be easy! Each fight will have polar opposite weaknesses, so make sure that you manage your skill points well and only use DPS skills for the character who can exploit each boss's weakness.
Trial of Equilibrium Part 2
The second Equilibrium Trial should unlock about the same time you are finishing your Trailblaze Mission on Jarilo-VI. It unlocks Trailblaze Levels past 30, as well as Stagnant Shadows, which you will need to Ascend your characters. Most free-to-play players will only have one five-star character to use for this fight, so again, we recommended a fully free character team:
- Natasha, March 7th, Asta, Fire Trailblazer

This Trial will test your survivability a bit more, which is why we chose to use three sustaining characters. March 7th and Fire Trailblazer make a synergistic duo that works really well for one half of the challenge, and Natasha will make sure that you survive through the second half.
Trial of Equilibrium Part 3
The third Equilibrium Trial unlocks when you hit Trailblaze Level 40. For us, this happened well after completing the current Main Story in Version 1.0, and we were starting to settle into the grind. Because we had spent so much time investing in our characters by this point, we thought this challenge was the easiest for us to tackle. Here's a team we can recommend that every player should have:
- Fire Trailblazer, Natasha, Dan Heng, Serval
By this point in the game, you'll know how to manage the flow of battle. What this trial tests the most is if you've upgraded your characters as much as possible. Make sure to focus on leveling the Four-Star Relics with the main stats that your characters need most. For example, Attack% on damage dealers and HP% on your healer. If you've done that, you should be good to go.
Trial of Equilibrium Part 4
Trial of Equilibrium part four unlocks after Trailblaze Level 50. It took about two weeks and all of our saved-up fuel to reach this point after tackling the third trial. If you don't have five-star characters that you think would succeed here, here's a team we recommend for taking it on:
- Fire Trailblazer, Natasha, Dan Heng, Asta
By now, you should know that the trick is to have at least one attacker for each boss that can take advantage of their respective weaknesses. At this point in the game, we still have not done any Relic grinding, and we don't believe it's necessary to succeed at this stage. Do, however, make sure that you've upgraded as many Traces of your characters as possible for guaranteed boosts to their damage.

Trial of Equilibrium Part 5
If you haven't been Relic grinding, Trial of Equilibrium part five will force you to. At Trailblaze level 60, you should also have a generous pool of characters at this point, so it's best not to stick to the freebies going forward. Still, what's good about this stage is the fact that it can be cleared by so many four-stars, including Sushang, Asta, and more. Below are our recommended teams:
- Yanqing, Serval, Natasha, and Fire Trailblazer
- Sushang, Asta, Natasha, and Fire Trailblazer
- Seele, Sampo, Natasha, and Gepard
If you have either Bailu or Luocha, slot them in instead of Natasha. The key to winning this fight is to have a single-target DPS that belongs to one of the following elements: Ice, Physical, or Quantum. This is the easiest way to defeat Silvermane Lieutenant.
Trial of Equilibrium Part 6
Trial of Equilibrium part six happens once you reach level 65. Despite being only five levels past the previous Trial, it likely took you months of dailies to get here. This Equilibrium Trial is a piece of cake with Yanqing in your pocket, but we cleared it with the following teams as well:
- Welt, Sushang, Fire Trailblazer, and Natasha
- Sampo, Sushang, Fire Trailblazer, and Luocha
The recommended level for part six is 70 (don't listen to the game, it's wrong), but it's doable even if your shielder, healer, and/or buffer is below this level. The important part is that your DPSes be at least level 70 with the best gear you can give them.
