Last Epoch 1.1 Class Tier List

All classes are viable! Choose whatever you want and you won't regret it!

The Last Epoch is one of the best ARPGs that I've played due to the flexibility in its classes. Although all are viable, it may be confusing for players who want the best class, so I created a Class Tier List, refreshed for the 1.1 Harbingers of Ruin update.

Best Classes in Last Epoch 1.1 - Tier List

Last Epoch's classes are all viable, and the game excels in the balancing department in comparison to Diablo 4. But if you want a well-balanced class that will speed up the leveling process, then you need a class that can take out large mobs of enemies in quick fashion while staying alive. This Tier List has you covered.

Best Ranked Classes in Last Epoch

S-Tier

  • Blademaster - One of the Mastery Classes for the Rogue class, the Blademaster is a great class for players who like flashy and mobile characters in ARPGs. One of the best things I love about this class is its option the ability to dance around your enemies before they know what hit them. I recommend Umbral Blades and/or Shadow Daggers for optimal builds here, while also investing in fast movement abilities such as Swift to stay out of harm's way.
  • Paladin - The Paladin is a Mastery Class of the Sentinel class and is a strong well-rounded choice for players who want to take on a lot of aggro on the battlefield while remaining alive and kicking. Its passive abilities such as Faithful will keep you healed up and going strong as the battle rages on. And Paladin builds that make use of the Hammer Throw skill will enjoy a huge spiral of hammers covering the entire screen, dealing excellent damage to foes.
  • Warlock - The Warlock class is a Mastery Class of the Acolyte class and is therefore closely linked to the Necromancer and Lich. Its biggest strength, like in most traditional RPGs, is its potential to deal damage over time (DoT) to enemies, meaning you can spend more time playing defensive while your DoTs do the work. To make the best of your Warlock build’s power, hone in on one type of damage and buff it as much as you can.

A-Tier

  • Falconer - A Rogue mastery class, the Falconer tastefully marries minion gameplay with big explosives, which makes for a fun and engaging combination. Your Falcon bird companion boasts a wide breadth of attacks, of which the Dive Bomb is one of the standouts for sure. The core secret to a strong Falconer build is buffing your Falcon's attacks and reducing all cooldowns as much as possible. Be aware that you will still be exposed to damage as this class, so be sure to spec in movement speed abilities such as Swift to stay quick on your feet.
  • Runemaster - One of the more singular classes in Last Epoch, the Runemaster boasts a one-of-a-kind casting system you won't find elsewhere in the game. This is because the Runemaster earns an elemental Rune with each spell you cast, in turn using said Runes to cast one of 40 different Runic Invocations – ranging from huge meteor showers and powerful defensive barriers. All that is to say, it makes for very versatile and adaptable builds. I recommend checking this class out if you're looking for something fresh and don't mind a little resource management in exchange for casting some pretty cool spells.
  • Shaman - One of the Primalist master classes in the Last Epoch, the Shaman uses elemental forces to cast powerful area-of-effect spells. Seeing as all of the Shaman's abilities are offensive spells, his passive tree provides huge boosts to Attunement, spell damage, elemental damage and mana. You can also create synergy between the Shaman and his storm totem which he can also summon, providing helpful buffs to both you and your teammates. Players looking for a nice versatile class will be sure to enjoy the Shaman as he can get up close and personal with his hybrid melee and elemental attacks or sit back and engage in effective ranged combat.
  • Sorcerer - A Master Class of the Mage class, the Sorcerer is the perfect choice for those who like to play from a distance, using powerful elemental abilities to mess around with and damage foes. All its spells are focused on area-of-effect, also using an onslaught of hail and ice to stop enemies in their path. All spell damage can be enhanced by Arcane Ascendance, though this comes at the expense of mobility.
  • Spellblade - The Spellblade is one of three Mastery classes stemming from the base Mage class. Players craving a strong melee class that also uses magical elemental empowerments in every skill have found the right choice (pay special attention to the very potent Shatter Strike). The Spellblade can leave a trail of icy shards behind them; weapons stand little chance against their protective ward and tough armor. Those looking for a spectacle will have lots of fun with this class thanks to its stimulating visuals and powerful attacks.

B-Tier

  • Druid - Yet another Primalist master class, the Druid uses the power of primal nature, calling up poisonous vines and spriggans with healing power. And as he is wont to do, he can also assume the form of a wild creature - a Werebear, a Spriggan, or a Swarmblade - gaining new abilities and buffs. While in his animal form, the Druid uses Rage instead of Mana for his abilities. If you're looking to make quick work of early-game mobs, then I suggest you spec heavily into the Druid's Werebear form. You'll be dealing massive damage as a result, while still being able to carry your own in a Human form as well.
  • Forge Guard - A Sentinel master class, the Forge Guard is for those looking for a minion-type build, while keeping the class fantasy of either a bruiser or knight alive and well. The Forge Guard specializes in Fire Damage, but can also whip out floating shields, forged weapons, and even a giant set of animated armor to help you in your fights. This class excels in particular if you go for a Mastery Armor build; pairing it with the Forge Guard's powerful Shield Throw and stacking shield throw ricochets will produce some impressive results.
  • Marksman - Turning now to a Rogue mastery class once again, the Marskman is, as you might have guessed, a master of the bow – excelling in both ranged and melee-ranged combat. The Marksman is quick to attack, dishing out a high level of damage thanks to a rapid barrage of arrows. This Mastery level of this class can even use subterfuge, allowing you to snipe your foes from a distance, which is great for stealthier players looking to hang back a little and attack from the shadows. The Marksman is certainly not a tanky class, however, so just be aware that you won't be a damage sponge when playing it.
  • Void Knight - This is a Sentinel mastery class that has subsumed part of the Void and brings it out himself on the battlefield to lay ruin to enemies. This melee-focused class deals out large circular swings that plow through enemies, leaving a trail of Void behind them which deals damage-over-time to finish off foes. The Void Knight's time manipulation capabilities allow them to shoot enemies into the future, temporarily removing them from the battlefield. It can also jump back in time itself, replenishing resources and gaining buffs as a result. If you don't mind a little resource management and prioritizing putting points in this class's Void spells, then you'll be sure to enjoy your time with the Void Knight.

C-Tier

  • Beastmaster - A Primalist mastery class, the Beastmaster focuses on summoning companions and dealing short-range physical damage in an up close and personal style, while also bridging his minions' active abilities together with his. He can also soak up a lot of damage thanks to strength scaling, endurance, and health recovery sources. Be sure to increase the effects of his Aspect skills to add more versatility to this class and help set it apart from similar classes like the Druid.
  • Lich - One of the more standout classes in the Last Epoch, the Lich is a transformation-based caster class that makes use of the power of death itself. Its playstyle is focused on its signature Reaper Form skill, which causes you take damage the longer you stay in this form. The Lich is great because it has multiple scaling vectors including health, intelligence, and mana, but if you don't manage your buffs properly, you'll find yourself dying a lot as this class.
  • Necromancer - The Necromancer class is an Acolyte mastery class and is very much in the same family as the Warlock and the Lich. Almost all Necromancer builds rely on minions to do your dirty work for you. If you’re thinking of going for a Golem build, it’s best to focus your buffs on that one Golem specifically. Skeletons or Wraiths, on the other hand, will need more mana to keep them going – a ton, in fact. But Wraiths' very high damage output might just make that cost worth it.
