How to beat Parade Master in Lies of P (Boss Guide)

Puppet show over!

While exploring the dark world of Lies of P, you will stumble upon various enemies and bosses blocking your way. One of the first bosses you will face is Parade Master, a large puppet with a cage on his back. The boss can be found near the Krat Central Station area right after you meet the first merchant in the game. Despite being an early-game boss, defeating Parade Master in Lies of P was not an easy task. He was a tough opponent with unpredictable moves! Here's a guide to help you out so you don't end up stuck here for a day, like me.

Before diving into the strategy to defeat him, it's crucial to learn what kind of attacks/moveset Parade Master performs during battle. The Parade Master attacks in two phases:

  • In the first phase, the Parade Master uses its hands to attack and performs three to four types of attacks, including a belly smash, dash, one-handed attack, and double-handed attack.
  • In the second phase, the Parade Master becomes more aggressive and uses new attacks, including a ground pound and a charge attack.

How to defeat the Parade Master

Phase 1

In the first phase, Parade Master mainly uses his hands to punch and swipe at you. On top of that, he will jump and slam the ground, creating a shockwave that can damage you if you are too close. During my playthrough, his attacks during the first phase were fairly slow and predictable. Blocking is especially effective in this phase, as it can stagger Parade Master and open him up for counterattacks.

To succeed in this phase, you need to keep your distance from him and strike him when he is done with his attacks. You can also dodge his moves and hit him from the back or the sides. Be careful not to get greedy with your attacks, as he can recover quickly and retaliate.

Phase 2

In the second phase, Parade Master will break the cage on his back and use it as a weapon. He will swing it around and throw it at you, causing more damage and range than before. As mentioned earlier, he will also become more aggressive and unpredictable, so you need to be careful and keep an eye on his movements.

To clear the second phase of the Parade Master in Lies of P, you need to be quick on your feet and dodge its attacks carefully. Although you can block his attacks in this phase, you need to time it well; otherwise, your character will lose plenty of HP. Moreover, he can break your guard and stun you if you block too early or too late. Keeping your distance is very important as well. I highly recommend you purchase the electricity power-ups from the merchant to deal additional damage.

What are the rewards for defeating Parade Master in Lies of P?

The rewards for defeating the Parade Master in Lies of P include the Parade Leader's Ergo, a Quartz, and 1852 Ergo. The Parade Leader's Ergo is the game's equivalent of a Boss Soul and can be used to unlock new abilities and upgrades.
