The Music Box is a cursed possession in Phasmophobia that allows players to pinpoint the location of the ghost. Like all cursed possessions, however, there are risks when using the box.
How Does It Work?
Spawning in one of the many locations that cursed possessions can spawn, the Music Box has the same chance of spawning as the other possessions. Only one can exist on the map so if the player has found another possession, they won't be finding the Music Box. The song it plays is written by one of the developers of the game named Lavender.
When players pick up the item, they can set it down with the Use Key or turn on the Music Box with the Secondary Use Key, or F. While the Box plays, the ghost will begin to sing along to the tune. This gives a good indication of its location, but there is danger in using it.

If the ghost is too close to the Box, it will begin to walk towards it, completely visible. While this can be good for photo opportunities, if the ghost approaches the Music Box for longer than five seconds or manages to touch the box while it is on, a Cursed Hunt will occur. One player can hold the Music Box while another explores in search of the singing as well. For single player hunts, the player can set the Box down while searching so long as they are careful about how far the ghost is.
