The PS5 is one of the most coveted consoles on the market, and even those lucky enough to get their hands on this rare piece of hardware have experienced their fair share of problems. One of the more severe issues to appear is the Green Screen Error.
The PS5 Green Screen Error indicates a lousy motherboard in the console. Players have surmised that the issue stems from putting a console with a faulty motherboard into Rest Mode. The Green Screen Error causes the console to show splashes of green before crashing the console. The only fix for this issue is to call Sony support and request a repair for the console.
Unfortunately, because of the global chip shortage, more bad parts are making their way into consoles. Should players send their console in for repairs, Sony will replace the motherboard and send the system back if the system is under warranty.
For the time being, we recommend all players use Rest Mode sparingly, as even those with functioning motherboards experience issues with this PS5 system function. Try to turn your console off at the end of the day rather than leaving it in rest mode after every play session.
Rest Mode has been the cause of several issues since the PS5’s launch, with users reporting repeated hard system crashes after using Rest Mode repeatedly. Should players encounter this problem, contact Sony support as soon as possible.
