One of the most important aspects of Remnant 2 is the archetype you pick, which determines your build and play style. This becomes incredibly important if you want to play solo like I do. Without teammates to back me up, I needed to be self-sufficient and able to face enemies on my own. This left me wondering what the best solo archetype in Remnant 2 is.
Best Archetype to play Solo in Remnant 2 - Best Handler Solo Build
The Handler is the best archetype to play when playing Remnant 2 solo. This is because of the dog companion that you get, which essentially serves as a second player. The dog not only helps draw fire away from you but also helps you deal additional damage. Your canine companion can even revive you if you have the correct Relic. That being said, let's dive into the best solo Handler build for Remnant 2.
Best Handler Perks
- Bonded:
- Your canine companion can revive you and restore 50% of your maximum health.
- Pack Hunter:
- Increases your range and skill damage by 30%. Also grants a 5% boost in range and skill critical hit chance when within a 25-meter radius of your companion.
As you're playing solo, having a companion that can revive you with half of your health is crucial. It allows you to take more risks without worrying about falling in battle. Likewise, the Pack Hunter perk will increase your damage output, something you may be lacking without other players by your side.

Best Handler Skills
- Attack Dog:
- Companion receives a 20% damage boost. The dog can be sent to a location by pressing the input, and holding this down further increases the damage of all allies within a 20-meter radius. The dog can be called back by pressing the input twice.
- Guard Dog:
- Companion draws 15% more threat and enemy attention while reducing all damage by 20%. You can command the dog to attack enemies at a location, and you can trigger a howl that lessens damage for all allies within a 20-meter radius by 15%. The dog can be called back by pressing the input twice.
The Attack Dog and Guard Dog skills will make your companion as deadly as possible, both offensively and defensively. While the Support Dog skill grants additional healing, I feel that the utility you get from the combat-focused skills outweighs a support build.
Best Secondary Archetype for Handler
This will depend on what your preference is. The best options are either the Medic or the Summoner. The Medic archetype will allow you to stay on your feet more with greater healing, while the Summoner gives you an additional companion. This third companion acts like the dog, drawing enemy attention and increasing your damage output. Finally, the Engineer is an extremely good class that meshes well with nearly every archetype, but is notoriously difficult to unlock.
