With the gaming industry on a continuous rise, we are getting multiple releases almost every day across various genres, including FPS, RPG, Sandbox, MOBA, and many more. Huge hits like CS:GO, Fortnite, Minecraft, Pokémon GO, etc., have been there for many years, and they still have some of the highest active player bases.

While some players like to enjoy their alone time in single-player games, others use them as a way to socialize and communicate with their friends. To dive deep into the stats, ExpressVPN conducted a survey among men and women that revealed that 40% of women among their respondents said that they would rather choose single-player games.

On the other hand, men are more likely to use gaming to connect with friends over female gamers, and two of the most favorite games among them were the first-person shooter game Call of Duty and football-focused FIFA.

The most popular games among men:

  • Call of Duty – 71%
  • FIFA – 56%
  • God of War – 48%

Interestingly, even though a huge percentage of female gamers prefer playing single-player games, Call of Duty still remains the most popular game among them as well, followed by The Sims.

The most popular games among women:

  • Call of Duty  – 46%
  • The Sims – 39%
  • Minecraft – 33%

The first Call of Duty game was released back in 2003, with the latest being Modern Warfare 2 (2022), and even after 20 years, it is the most popular franchise, which shows that gaming is becoming a default way for people to connect with each others.
