In order to chop large stumps and break large rocks, you will need to upgrade your tools in Stardew Valley; but where can you even do this in the game?
Where to upgrade tools in Stardew Valley
To upgrade tools in Stardew Valley, you have to visit the blacksmith in town from 9 am to 4 pm and choose the dialogue option to do so. After that, you can then have the blacksmith upgrade the following tools with a certain amount of money and materials. As a side note, when you upgrade a tool, it will take a total of two days to complete, and during this time you will not be able to use the blacksmith.
- Axe
- Water Can
- Pickaxe
- Hoe
- Trash Can
The starting upgrades are copper, and to upgrade your tools to copper, it will cost 2k gold and five copper bars each. You can get the copper bars by mining the ore inside the mine or other various sources like breaking geodes; something you can also do at the blacksmith.
Upgrading to copper will vastly improve your tools and allow you to do more things. For example, copper axes will chop large stumps in eight hits and small ones in four hits; along with this, your water can have a larger capacity to hold water. Check the list below for the full list of upgrades you can get and their costs.
- Copper Upgrades; 2k gold and five copper bars, trash cans will only cost 1k gold to upgrade.
- Steel Upgrades; 5k gold and five iron bars, trash cans will only cost 2500k gold to upgrade.
- Gold Upgrades; 10k gold and five gold bars, trash cans will only cost 5k gold to upgrade.
- Iridium Upgrades; 25k gold and five iridium bars, trash cans will only cost 12,500k gold to upgrade.
