All New Super Mario Wonder Power-Ups

Wonder at these new abilities.

2D Mario returns with Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and I am beyond thrilled to grab my friends and play this whimsical platforming adventure. Nintendo has included various new features and mechanics, like Badges, but my favorite is the new Power-Ups.

In addition to the returning Fire Flower, Mario can use several new powers by collecting items. Let's look at what new Power Items are in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

  • Daisy
  • Toads
  • Toadette

First seen in the reveal for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the Elephant form is perhaps the most quirky of Mario and friends' new powers. Upon collecting this power-up, Mario transforms into an elephant version of himself.

With the Elephant Power-Up, Mario can swing his trunk to strike enemies, destroy blocks, and even hit projectiles back at enemies. Elephant Mario can easily break blocks and dash across larger gaps without falling in. Finally, you can store water in your trunk and spray plants to cause them to grow.

In Bubble Form, Mario and his companions can blow light floating bubbles. Once blown, these can capture foes and turn them into coin bubbles, which you can pop and collect. You can even defeat enemies, like Dry Bones, who are normally impervious to damage. Bubbles can be blown through walls and used to jump to greater heights.

Super Mario Wonder Drill

With Drill Form, your character sprouts a drill cap. With the cap equipped, you are immune to Spikys that may fall on your head and can break hard enemies by jumping into them. Your ground pound becomes more powerful, and you drill downward to reach new areas. You can even burrow into the ground and ceiling to give your best Monty Mole impression to reach otherwise unreachable areas.

How many Power-Ups can you have in Super Mario Bros Wonder?

Players can hold up to two Power-Ups at once in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Once you have a power equipped, the next Power-Up you pick up gets put in an Item Bubble. You can swap your two Power-Ups at any time, or you can hold onto the second and pop it when you lose your current Power-Up. Having two abilities at once allows you to strategically explore every area fully.
