How to heal in V Rising

Yes, those plants DO have a purpose!

The idea of immortality may be an attractive part of being a vampire. However, things in V Rising work a little differently, and players need to constantly be aware of their health bar. Sunlight and enemies can both drain your health, but there are plenty of ways to recover from any nasty knocks or UV rays that might come your way. Here's everything you need to know about healing in V Rising.

From consuming items to restoring your health through certain Blood Types, there are several ways in V Rising to keep your HP topped up. Here is how you can use each to your advantage.

What are the best ways to heal in V Rising?

Primarily, there are four major ways you can make sure your health is in good shape: Consumables, Coffins, Blood Mend ability, and Blood Type.

Consumables

From the moment you wake up from your deep slumber, the open world in V Rising ensures that you have enough items lying around that can be consumed. For instance, you can find Rats and Tainted Hearts in the world as naturally occurring drops. Consuming certain items helps you regain your health.

In order to consume the item, open your inventory and click on it. Doing so will give you a quick health buff. The Tainted Heart is one of your best options in the early game, adding two liters to your Blood Pool.

Coffins

Coffins act as respawn points in the game, giving you a safe location to restart your vampiric adventures. The most basic version of one is a wooden coffin, only one of which can stay active during your playtime. Using one by simply interacting with it can act as a save point, sheltering you from dangerous enemies.

I should point out that coffins are best used as respawn points rather than a break between combat scenarios. It also protects you from sun exposure, a game mechanic that drains your health the moment you're exposed to those UV rays.

Blood Mend

Perhaps one of the best healing methods in the game, Blood Mend helps you use stored blood in your body to heal you. On PC, do this by pressing CTRL and selecting 'Blood Mend'. Every time you use this ability, your character will drain 0.2 liters of blood and recover 4% of their total health.

To make sure this is filled up, keep drinking the blood of different living beings around you. This comes up during a combat mechanic, where a prompt will show up every time you choose to attack a creature.

Blood Type

As mentioned above, drinking the blood of different creatures has different impacts on you. To make sure your character is healing, drink the blood of Brute beings. The most basic form (Brute 2) of such a being provides you with 20% - 35% increased health. Upon delivering a killing attack, you'll also heal yourself for 4% of the victim's health.

Similarly, Brute 3 creatures give a 6% chance of health recovery. Even though this is a great way of healing yourself, other beings like Creatures, Rogues, Warriors, Workers, Scholars, and Mutants may not have the same effect.
