After much debate on when it might be, it seems that WoW Dragonflight's long-anticipated 10.1 content update has finally gotten a release date. What's more, Season 2 and the new raid have also gotten time frames, and it's all coming much sooner than expected. Blizzard wasn't joking when they mentioned not having long draughts of content anymore, and 10.1's release date is the proof. Here's everything you need to know about WoW Dragonflight's 10.1 content update.
When is WoW Dragonflight's 10.1 content update going to be released?
According to Blizzard, update 10.1 is planned to be released at the beginning of next month on May 2, much sooner than we were speculating. What's impressive about this is that WoW is known for having a long-winded update cycle, with major updates like this one coming only once every several months. However, with 10.1, this release is practically right on track with the Dragonflight roadmap that was revealed at the release of the Dragonflight expansion.
What's new in the Dragonflight 10.1 Update?
The Dragonflight 10.1 update features a plethora of content, some new and old, along with shake-ups of the current roster. Dubbed Embers of Neltherion, it focuses on Neltherion's secret laboratory hidden within the Dragon Isles and what the existence of his lab means to the overstory. New content in the update includes:
- Zaralek Caverns - A new zone! The mysterious underground caverns of the Dragon Isles feature all sorts of twisted secrets to be discovered by the most daring adventurers
- Cross-Faction Guilds - At last, the limitation of factions is shattered, allowing for guilds to exist on both sides of the factional spectrum.
- Fyrrak Assaults - The Primalists of the Dragon Isles are making yet another move, and it's up to those adventuring there to put a stop to their newly concocted madness.
- New Allies - Venturing deep into the depths of the Dragon Isles will require new allies to lean on for general guidance. The Niffern and the Drogbar are those allies.

WoW Dragonflight Season 2
While content update 10.1 is releasing May 2, Dragonflight's Season 2 is set to launch the week of May 9. Season 2 opens with the new Aberrus, The Shadowed Crucible raid! Neltheraion's secret laboratory has been discovered in the deepest depths of the Zarelek Cavern.
It was in this raid that the Earthwarder fell prey to the crude whispers of the Old Gods and became the great cataclysm known as Deathwing. Normal, Heroic, and Mythic versions of the raid will be released at the same time. The release of the Raid Finder version of the raid is unknown but assumed to be coming after a reasonable amount of time following the raid's standard release.
Season 2 also includes a total refresh of the dungeon rotation available for Mythic Plus, including new seasonable affixes. The new dungeons in this cycle are the following:
- Brackhide Hollow
- Halls of Infusion
- Uldaman, Legacy of Tyr
- Neltharus
- Freehold (Battle for Azeroth)
- The Underrot (Battle for Azeroth)
- Vortex Pinnacle (Cataclysm)
- Neltharion's Lair (Legion)
Finally, Season 2 is coming with the second of Dragonflight's PvP Ladder, which will include its own set of new PvP gear to earn, upgrade, and master.
