Wuthering Waves is finally getting the optimization push it needs to succeed

Updates galore!

Wuthering Waves has celebrated some great successes, reaching its pre-registration milestones and topping the download charts in over 100 countries. Now, they are working on optimizing the game for players.

While the game has been pretty fun so far, there is no denying that WuWa has been experiencing many issues (specifically with performance on PCs, unskippable cutscenes, etc).

Thanks to the feedback and bug reports that everyone has been sending in, Kuro Games is now working to make the game a better experience for everyone. WuWa is their first independently developed and globally published game, so it makes sense that it's not as polished in its first version. However, that also means that not everyone is going to stick with the game until it's polished.

Wuthering Waves version 1.1 will include quite a few updates and optimizations. For starters, they are working on optimizing the Echo development experience. In the upcoming version, developing an Echo will take fewer Shell credits, while the yield of Echoes and Echo development materials will be increased. Kuro Games will add a limited-time double-yield Echo event, 'Chord Cleansing,' will be added to the current 1.0 version of the game.

Additionally, on May 29, an error gave some players an extra amount of Shell Credit when recycling Echoes. The developers planned to remove it in order to remain fair to everyone, but they didn't clearly communicate this, so as an apology, they will be providing Shell Credit x 1,000,000 to all players. This will last until July 3, 2024. You will also get Crystal Solvents × 20 for the general poor experience with the Echoes in the game.

Wuthering Waves has had many localization issues, making some of the story sound stilted and awkward, though it extends to weapon descriptions at times, too (e.g. Verdant Summit). If you encounter any issues with the language of WuWa, Kuro Games encourages you to reach out so that they can improve.

While they work hard to improve any problems across multiple languages, we will receive a one-time compensation of Forging Tides × 5. This compensation will last until June 28, 2024.

Kuro Games is also redesigning the rules and rewards of upcoming events after extensive feedback from the players about the 'Overdash Club' event. To me, the event was okay and not too challenging, but it did feel a bit like a walking challenge at times. The rewards also felt insignificant, considering it was a special event.

Wuthering Waves devs provide compensation as an apology until June 28

Wuthering Waves will run an additional special event called 'Wuthering Exploration' with more rewards (they are very generous with compensation rewards, which makes me more than happy). The event will run from June 13 to June 28, 2023. You can get:

  • Astrites × 800
  • Morphable Elite Class Echo I
  • Morphable Elite Class Echo II
  • Premium Tuner
  • Premium Sealed Tube

A major change has been made to the Wuthering Waves update timeline. Due to the generous player feedback and support they have received (as you can tell from the likes, views, and responses to their above post on X), they are moving up some of the content from 1.1.

From June 6, you will be able to play the 'Solitary Path' Companion Story for Yinlin, which I am so excited about since I love her design and abilities; I'm going to be pulling on her banner as soon as it drops. Don't worry—you will also get Resonator Tide x 10 as compensation for the change in the banner schedule. Sorry, Jiyan, but you haven't arrived yet, and I need to save up for Yinlin.

On June 28, Wuthering Waves will launch version 1.1, which includes a new area (Mt. Firmament), new Resonances (Jinshi and Changli), and a new boss (Sentinel Jue).

Combat will also be getting some major upgrades in version 1.1. I've gotten annoyed plenty of times with the Auto-lock on and camera movements in combat, so I am looking forward to them fixing these issues. Keybinding and controller experience will be optimized in this version as well.

On top of all the big changes above, Wuthering Waves will roll out improvements to the following:

  • No purchase limits, which can lead to accidental unwanted purchases.
  • Audio and Sound Effect bugs.
  • Performance issues (Crashes and Instability).
  • 'Depth of the Illusive Realm' event.

Considering how many issues the players have experienced since the game's launch, it's good to see all of their plans and upgrades for Wuthering Waves. I've had fun in the game so far, but let's hope they can make it a better and smoother experience.
