Exploring is one of the first thrills in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. There are many feats to accomplish, quests to complete, and enemies to defeat, but I first had to find them on the map. How does one do that when there is fog everywhere? I learned how to clear map fog in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom so you can do it, too!
How to reveal map fog in Zelda Tears of Kingdom
You won't be able to clear the fog off the map until you meet Purah in Lookout Landing after jumping from Great Sky Island. You'll need to then seek out Captain Hoz and return to Purah before you can finally start revealing the map. Follow these instructions to reveal map fog in Tears of Kingdom:
- Unlock the first Skyview Tower.
- Use the Skyview Tower to launch yourself into the sky.
- While in the air, scan the landscape to update the map.
- The map fog will disappear.
- Use a glider to fly to safety.
- Find the Skyview Tower in another region and repeat the process until you reveal the whole map.

Revealing the map of Hyrule is essential, as TotK is an open-world game where you can easily be lost if you don't know where to go. With the fog gone, you'll have an easier task of reaching the Shrines in Tears of the Kingdom. Similarly, you'll complete side quests much faster when you know where to look for them on the map. How to reveal Darkness in The Depths in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Using Skyview Towers will do you no good in The Depths. This dark underground region requires a different method to explore fully. Look for Lightroots as you explore underground. These twisted roots come from the ceiling and have a green glow from their center. Interact with the glow to reveal a portion of The Depths both in-game and the map. They also serve as fast-travel locations.
