As with the other video games, your progress in Content Warning is stored on your local hard drive or SSD. However, the save file may become corrupted at any time, which is why you need to know where the Content Warning save file is and make a backup.
Where to find Content Warning save file
To access your Content Warning save data, you need to head over to the following location on your PC.
C:\Users\(user name)\AppData\LocalLow\Landfall Games\Content Warning\Saves
It's worth noting that the term (user name)
is the name of the user account on the computer. The save file is named save.dat
and can be copied, moved, or deleted as needed. However, you should be careful not to modify the file in any way, as this may cause errors or glitches in the game.
To access the save file location, you may need to enable the option to show hidden files and folders in their file explorer, as the AppData folder is usually hidden by default. Alternatively, you can type the save file location in the address bar of the file explorer and press Enter to go directly to the folder.
How to enable cloud save in Content Warning
Enabling the cloud save feature is highly recommended as it ensures that your progress (including the hilarious recordings) is always stored on the game servers. Here are the steps to automatically back up your Content Warning save file to the cloud:
- Launch the Steam app on your computer.
- Click on "Steam" at the top of the screen, then select "Settings."
- In the Settings menu, click on "Cloud" on the left side.
- Check the box next to "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for applications that support it."
