Cities Skylines 2 getting one step closer to fixed with economy re-work

Making it sustainable.

Paradox Interactive will be addressing the economy of Cities Skylines 2 in an upcoming patch by completely reworking it. While the main focus of the patch will be the economy re-work, it has also improved other elements, such as the building upgrade system.

The economy in Cities Skylines 2 has been quite unbalanced since the game launched. Performance issues were also prevalent, but most of those were fixed (although not fully). Issues with production not generating enough income, certain services and industries not needing resources to generate income, exports and imports being broken, and more, have basically made the game's economy a bit of a mess. The upcoming patch is bound to fix one or more of these issues judging by a new post on the upcoming patch by the developers in the Paradox forum. The main goal of the patch is to address the economic issues as well as the importance of managing it and how player choices affect it.

According to the developers Colossal Order, the implementation of the economy re-work is done and the patch is currently being ''polished''. They also said the patch won't address every one of the issues but they will make sure the community's expectations are met. Colossal Order has said the patch is expected to be released between June 3 and June 19, with more details regarding it coming soon.

Alongside the economic re-work of the game, the patch will also improve the building upgrade system. Due to this economy patch, the Creator Packs are delayed and will be released after summer. The next patch will also be available after summer which will include a bunch of free content.

It looks like a step in the right direction for Cities: Skylines 2 with this economy update. After the economy is workable and balanced, the game will hopefully feel significantly improved over its launch state.
