2022’s 6 Best Big and Tall Gaming Chairs

If you’re tall, then chances are pretty high that you have bad posture. Razer has very recently broken into the gaming chair market with the Iskur. While the standard model supports a respectable maximum height and weight of 6’2” and 300lbs, the XL model is built for a maximum of 6’10” and 400lbs. The seat width is reportedly a tad narrow, but that seems to be by design to maintain proper leg positioning while sitting.

It uses a PVC synthetic leather that’s higher quality and more resilient compared to standard PU leather, which should translate to a longer-lasting chair compared to other faux leather chairs on the market. The arm rests feature fully adjustable height and angle adjustment, and it has an ingenious lumbar support system. The full backrest of the Iskur adjusts outward from the chair back, removing the need for built-in lumbar to stretch and creak within the chair itself.

Secretlab Titan EVO 2022 Series

If you’ve spent any amount of time gaming in recent years, then you’ve seen Secretlab and their line of chairs. They’ve seemingly mastered the art of promotion and sponsorship and have become the de facto gaming chair to imitate. And not without reason: the EVO is a rock solid gaming chair. It features a firm cushion, fully adjustable arm rests, standard height and tilt adjust, and a magnetic neck pillow.

Famously, Secretlab offers an array of themed chairs—from Batman to Pokémon—to match your preferred aesthetic. The XL-size accommodates a maximum height of 6’9” and weight of 395 pounds. Newer models feature a built-in lumbar support that is highly adjustable, but recent versions have suffered from very loud lumbar creaking. That aside, the Titan EVO is a rock-solid chair. It comes in so many designs that you’ll inevitabley find something to love, as long as you don’t mind a rather loud chair.

Respawn RSP-900

The RSP-900 is something truly different in the gaming-chair arena. Something of a combination between a traditional recliner and an office chair, it features a fully attached recline, large upholstered arms rests (complete with cup holder), and a round swivel base. It has a 275-pound weight limit, and comes with a removable side pouch that’s useful for controllers or other gaming accessories. It might not be the most ergonomic chair on the market, but it’s definitely a very comfortable one and has a respectable weight limit.

BestMassage Big and Tall Desk Chair

If you’re after a high maximum weight feature, then this desk chair from BestMassage will likely fit the bill. It has a 500-pound limit, iron back rest frame, and an extra-wide seat. Outside of those features, it’s a pretty standard desk chair, with a regular sponge cushion and a standard height backrest. The standard webbed backing provides breathability, and the lumbar is adjustable. It’s not going to blow the competition out of the water as far as ergonomics, but it’s the largest weight capacity chair we’ve seen to date and comes with a very reasonable price tag.

La-Z-Boy Delano

La-Z-Boy doesn’t just make recliners these days, they’ve branched into office chairs. This executive style chair supports up to 350 pounds, has bonded leather upholstery, and comes with fixed, solid-wood arm rests. The seat is a memory-foam cushion for long sitting sessions and features standard tilt and tension adjustment along the bottom of the seat. It’s not the standard racing-style gaming chair you’ll find all over Amazon, but it looks classy and offers long-term comfort for those who are chair-bound for many hours at a time.

Herman Miller Aeron

The Aeron might not be laden with gaming logos and fake leather, but it continues to be one of the most highly recommended ergonomic chairs on the market today. Aeron chairs come in a variety of sizes, listed alphabetically from A to C, and their largest size accommodates a height of up to 6’7” and weight up to 350 pounds. Notably, the B size chair supports the same high with slightly lower weight limits for those of you looking for a tall chair that's not necessarily big.

Despite the design coming out in 1994, few chairs top its ergonomic performance, with fully adjustable spine support, recline, arms, tilt, and tension. Newer models also feature ocean-bound plastic construction, which means you can feel good about feeling good in your new chair. While primary market prices on these chairs are well into the quadruple digits, they can often be found on the secondary market for significantly cheaper. These are the kinds of chairs you buy once and use for many, many years to come.

Good ergonomics dictate that you should be able to maintain an upright, neutral spine position, put both feet flat on the floor without your knees raising up above your chair seat, and you should be able to maintain a 90-degree angle with your elbows while typing or using your mouse. Sure, we all slouch from time to time, but having the ability to sit properly can improve not only your gaming time, but also your general health. Investing in a solid office chair isn't just about comfort, it can make a real daily impact.
